song review under the radar

Marigolds return with ‘Slept Out’

Marigolds return to the scene with new indie rock bop ‘Slept Out’. It’s been a long cold winter without the indie summer love we got from the band’s Asleep in the Sun EP (review here) but as the UK is thawing out the band have geared up for the good weather with their newest single.

The single is more upbeat and with more youthful rhythm than their previous EP. They’re not unlike that of The Night Cafe or even The Libertines. Marigolds are poised to start making a break outside of their native Norwich with bigger tracks like this. With a big show in the near future it may not be long either.

‘Slept Out’ tells the tale as old as time of those summer nights out with mates, drinking too much and meeting the new love of your life at every house party you attend. This story is well known but Marigolds tell it their own way. They put their own stamp on it with trademark lyrical composition. The boys write with experience beyond their years and rose tinted glasses.

Have a listen of the new track ‘Slept Out’ here. Be sure to show the boys some support on their socials too. Marigolds are playing one of their biggest shows to date supporting Turnover in Norwich. May 23rd so get yourself down the front nice and early.
