Christine and the Queens have grown to be quite the phenomenon and following the release of sophomore album Chris they appear to be unstoppable. In the coming days they’ll hit Manchester’s O2 Apollo for a two night spectacular.
Following 2016’s Chaluer Humaine that finished the year as the biggest selling debut of 2016, Chris is something different entirely. It’s bigger, bolder and funkier than anything from Chaluer Humaine. It talks at length about the human condition as well taking an inspective look at sexuality.
Chris goes between a West Side Story style protagonist in the lead single ‘Girlfriend’ and the Robyn style indifference of ‘The stranger’. There’s lots to unpack in a Christine and the Queens performance with all these sides or personalities, coming to live on the stage.
