song review

Paris Youth Foundation’s brooding new single ‘Jessica’

Paris Youth Foundation are a scouse five piece guitar pop outfit. The band are rounding up a big year that has seen them play the likes of Liverpool Sound City and Y Not? Festival, with a new single. The dark new track is ‘Jessica’.

‘Jessica’ is a nostalgia filled winter anthem. The lush bass line makes the song feel warmer from the get go. Kevin Potter’s vocals are wrought with emotion, remembering the bliss of young love and the heartache it inevitably brings. The production here is dark and deliberately so, matching the cold of the oncoming winter.

‘Jessica’ is a lesson in bittersweet love. The melodies really hold together the single, scouse bands renowned for their ability to hold a tune like no other. The opening guitar riff has a nice amount of punch to it, enough that even through it’s bittersweet lyrics the song is bouncing from the start.
