Childcare have released ‘Bamboo’ today, in the lead up to their London show in conjunction with DIY Magazine. The single sees bassist Emma Topolski take the lead vocally for the first time in Childcare, leaving frontman Ed Cares to step down for three minutes and fifty seven seconds.
We talked to Childcare at Twisterella last month where they talked about the making of ‘Bamboo’ and about their debut album that ‘Bamboo’ will very likely feature on. Their debut album is currently on track to be released in Spring 2019. Have a read of the interview here.
‘Bamboo’ maintains the four piece’s unique ability to create left of centre pop with a whole array of quirks. Emma’s vocals sound super slick, delivered with a side of heavy, plucking bass. The second chorus is where the song really comes into it’s own. Taking on elements of everything from The Beach Boys to Goldfrapp, Childcare play around with a lot of different sounds.
