Indie dreamers Jaws have released a new single called ‘Do You Remember?’ from their third album, The Ceiling which is due for release in early April. The single is a lo-fi affair, keeping to the ultra cool, unpolished skate park sound that has made the band so popular over the years.
Frontman Connor Schofield explains: “Lyrically The Ceiling is generally about feeling a bit lost, I think as you grow up everything feels like its moving along a lot quicker; friends, relationships, life can all seem to move at 100 mph. Sometimes we forget that its OK to stand still for a bit sometimes and actually breathe.
A lot of these songs are about dealing with that. Musically I think we’ve surprised even ourselves with it, we’ve gone down paths we haven’t taken before and ended up with something we’re really very excited about.
This song is a self observation of my social anxiety, and how I always compare ourselves to others when I should be working out how to be more comfortable in my own skin.
Musically I think I’ve managed to merge my love for bands like The Cure and bands like Title Fight quite well on this one and its definitely one of my favourites on the record that I’m very much looking forward to playing live.”
