Glaswegian rockers LUCIA today release new single ‘Blue Heart’. The single is the band’s first since their sophomore EP Cheap Talk. After having been given accolades as Ones to Watch from various publications at the end of 2018, the band have been off to a flying start this year with festival announcements like Live at Leeds and Hit the North flooding in.
The single is hypnotic, the vocals calling out through layers of ghostly reverb. As with LUCIA’s established sound, ‘Blue Heart’ is drenched in reverb and nostalgia. Front woman Lucia Fairfull channels her inner Stevie Nicks to come alive for the track.
Fairfull explains about the meaning: “Blue Heart is about the frustration you feel when someone close to you is trapped in a toxic relationship that they are too scared to let go of.”
Sonically ‘Blue Heart’ sounds like if Fleetwood Mac wrote Wolf Alice’s ‘Moaning Lisa Smile’, it’s got the bite that puts a backbone behind the track but it’s a wholly more dreamy affair, putting the LUCIA spin back onto the track.
