Premiere: St Buryan’s newest offering ‘Giving In’

‘Giving In’ is the newest single by Newcastle/Sunderland based five piece band, St Buryan. 2018 saw them reach new heights and 2019 is already gearing it to surpass it thanks to big new tunes like this and gigs up and down the country. It’s good to see St Buryan making waves, ‘Giving In’ is a mighty leap forward for one of Tyneside’s best kept secrets.

The single channels the catchiness of bands like Busted, Neon Trees and New Politics to cross between pop punk and indie. Within the opening fifteen seconds you’re hooked on the warm intro and within the fifteen after that you’re singing along to it yourself.

Whilst this is still undoubtedly got the St Buryan stamp, ‘Giving In’ takes a step up from the rest of their back catalogue. A punchy beat and soaring chorus put this in good steads to be a live favourite. I’ve been watching a lot of Marie Kondo recently, trying to get my life together, and ‘Giving In’? It sparks joy.

If you dig it, you’re in luck because St Buryan have a Newcastle headline show coming up in April! On the 27th they’ll hit Think Tank and for £6.50 there’s no better way to spend your Friday night. Grab a ticket here. ‘Giving In’ will be available on streaming sites from midnight but for now, give it a listen above.
