Sleeptape roar on new single ‘Midnight’

ANDREW WALKER

North East based four piece Sleeptape are roaring on their most ambitious single to date. ‘Midnight’ sees them reach new heights with dark riffs and a chorus that sticks in your head by design.

The uneasy energy that fills the opening seconds is banished with the wall of sound that the guitars bring in before frontman Jonathan Lott takes ahold of the reins.

There’s a frantic energy in the chorus that harks back to the kind of promise songs like ‘Red Socks Pugie’ held for Foals. Could this be that same moment for Sleeptape that they look back at in years to come? Very possibly.

When talking about the single, Sleeptape have said it’s “a dark, dangerous & driving onslaught of Alternative-Rock. The song talks about looking for self-validation or self-gratification through going out drinking and enabling the darker sides of a persona, projecting a false over-confident version of yourself.”

Listen to ‘Midnight’ right here. If you like what you hear the band have headline shows in Newcastle on 6th April and Middlesbrough on 29th March.
