introducing song review

Rae’s stomping debut ‘Never Meant to Start a Witch Hunt’

Rae may be fresh out the starting blocks but one thing is for sure, they’re not here to fuck about. ‘Never Meant to Start a Witch Hunt’ is a bold single, Jess Huxham’s vocals inspire confidence, having the listeners complete attention even with huge riffs to compete with. She echoes the likes of Theresa Jarvis of YONAKA and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm.

The song ends so sharply that you have to go back for a second, third and fourth listen, to try and wring every last drop of goodness from it. Rae may be new to making heavier music but they clearly know what they’re doing.

When talking about the single, the band have said “‘Never Meant To Start A Witch Hunt’ is about leaving behind the relationships and friendships that aren’t good for you. It’s sometimes hard for you to see clearly how someone’s actions are affecting your life until you take a step back and look at the bigger picture.”

“It also highlights the importance of karma, always expect for things to come back round when you have been in the wrong and don’t point the finger at other people when it does.”
